santa rosa parkway reopened within the past hour after being shut down for hours by a pool chemical spill. it happened about 8:00 a.m. on fountain grove parkway between mendocino avenue. fire officials say some liquid and powdered pool chemicals fell off the back of a truck, mixed together and formed a vapor cloud. witnesses say the truck driver tried to clean up the spill but appeared to be overcome by the fumes and drove off. another driver reportedly fell ill. a santa rosa fire hazmat team cleaned up the spill and reopened the road about 30 minutes ago. >>> police in the east bay with warning car owners about an alarming increase in the number of auto thefts. they are advising car owners to take precautions. according to a california highway patrol task force, there were 12,622 you a though thefts in alameda county -- auto thefts in alameda county last year. that's up 17% from the year before. pleasant tonight, thefts were up 47%. police are telling auto owners to help prevent thefts and break-ins by removing keys, locking doors and not leaving valuables in plain sight. >> i thin

60 degrees. mid-50s to low 60s around the bay area. 56 in santa rosa. santa rosa, one of the only spots, slightly cooler than yesterday. 57 in oakland. 62 walnut creek, 62 in livermore, most of us anywhere from 4 to 6 degrees from 24 hours ago. for the afternoon, the temperatures will soar above average for this time of year, giving you a look here, mostly sunny skies. had some fog across the valley floor. that's broken up. we're looking at sunshine for your afternoon. i want to point you to a couple of items that will be impacting us for the weekend. minor changes in store. first it will come in the way of high clouds. i'm seeing some subtropical moisture pulling up into our area by tomorrow. high clouds overhead. meanwhile, a system in the gulf of alaska is bringing us large swells and that will impact our beaches. so we do have something to be aware of if you are heading toking beach for the weekend -- to the beach for the weekend, rip shores and the sneaker waves, be aware of those for the little ones who like to play on the beaches. we have chilly mornings for saturday. sunda

. look at santa rosa, napa, already begin -- already beginning to see the difference. filtered soft sunlight. it's no too bad but covered in high clouds. the winds at 7 miles per hour in oakland. 5 in napa. 5 in livermore. so still a little cool out there. with that breeze it could still feel chilly. 54 in oakland. 54 san francisco, 53 in napa. upper as walnut creek and the low 50s for livermore. those numbers very similar to just 24 hours ago so you know what to expect. i want to show you the lie clouds. notice dropping from north to south. so we will see a pretty good clearing for the second half of the day with a few high clouds remaining in the forecast. this is why. the pacific satellite view showing you this ridge of high pressure continues over the pacific. we're on the eastern edge. that's also a cool flow. so temperatures today feeling cool even though we're dry and mostly sunny. upper 50s and low 60s in the forecast once again. the cool mornings, milder afternoons on the way with high clouds and possibility of breezy conditions on and off at least through the next couple o
